Blue Star Memorial Highway
Cook County, GA
The Blue Star Memorial Highway program began in 1945, when New Jersey garden clubs planted a ribbon of dogwoods to honor World War II servicemen and drew on the blue-star flags families displayed for those in uniform. The National Garden Clubs soon spread the idea nationwide, marking scenic routes as tributes to all who have served. This marker in Cook County was sponsored by the Garden Club of Georgia with the Adel Garden Club.
