The Story
Named for the blue-star service flags of the World War II home front, Blue Star Memorial Highways were dedicated by garden clubs beginning in 1945 as living tributes to the armed forces. The program expanded through partnerships with state highway departments, marking roads across the nation. This Cook County marker was placed with the State Road Department of Georgia and the Primrose Garden Club of Tifton.
