The Story
The Blue Star Memorial began in 1945 as garden clubs across the country marked highways to honor the armed forces, taking their symbol from the blue-star flags families displayed for loved ones in service. In Lincolnton, the Pine Needle Garden Club set this marker with the Garden Club of Georgia to carry that tribute into Lincoln County. The dedication reaches beyond any single conflict to all who have defended the nation.
