"The Bush Declaration" Harford Town
Harford County, MD
This marker commemorates the Bush Declaration, proclaimed here in March 1775 when Harford County's elected representatives pledged resistance to British measures more than a year before the national Declaration of Independence. It also records that this spot served as the county seat from the county's founding in 1774 until 1783. The inscription claims it as the first declaration of independence adopted by a duly elected body of the people.
