Morgan Mill Cemetery
Morgan Mill, TX
Tradition holds that the first person buried here was a young girl who died as her family traveled west in the 1870s; the oldest marked stone, for Amanda Counts, dates to 1880. In 1883 Isaac Henderson deeded about three acres to the people of Morgan Mill for a community burial ground, which has since grown past six acres. A cemetery association formed in 1926, and descendants still gather each May for a work day and reunion. Those interred include veterans from the Civil War through Desert Storm.
