The Story
Beginning in 1945 as a highway planting honoring World War II troops, the Blue Star Memorial grew into a national program saluting everyone who has served in the armed forces. In Calhoun, the Hillhouse Garden Club of the Laurel District worked with the Garden Club of Georgia to dedicate this marker. The blue star recalls the service banners families once displayed for loved ones in uniform.
