Fountain Avenue United Methodist Church. Congregation organized in 1892 as a mission. Original church built at 10th & Trimble Sts. In 1908, Fountain Ave. Methodist Episcopal Church, South was erected here at a cost of $35,000; it has been in continual service since. In 1937, floodwaters filled basement. Möller pipe organ installed in 1945. The education wing was added in 1947.

The Story
This Paducah congregation began in 1892 as a mission, with its first church at 10th and Trimble Streets. In 1908 the Fountain Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church, South was erected on this site for $35,000 and has served continuously ever since, weathering the great 1937 flood that filled its basement. A Möller pipe organ was installed in 1945, and an education wing was added in 1947.

This congregation traces its roots to March 1851, when it was incorporated by an act of the Kentucky General Assembly as a Cumberland Presbyterian Church. After the Cumberland body merged with the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. in 1906, it became Kentucky Avenue Presbyterian Church. In 1951 the congregation moved to a modified Gothic building at this location and adopted the Westminster name.
Boy Scout Troop 1, Paducah

Within the very first year after the Boy Scouts of America incorporated in February 1910, the Reverend Clinton S. Quin of Grace Episcopal Church organized Troop 1 in Paducah. The church chartered the troop continuously for more than a century, providing meeting space and volunteer leaders. Documented as the seventh-oldest troop in the nation, it belongs to the Lincoln Heritage Council, one of the country's oldest scouting councils.
First Presbyterian Church

First Presbyterian Church of Paducah was organized in October 1842 in the Broadway home of Judge James Campbell, with just eight charter members and the Reverend A. W. Campbell as its first pastor. The young congregation met in homes and the courthouse until it built its first church in 1848, later moving to this location in 1888. Its present building was dedicated in 1933.
Broadway Methodist Church

Founded in 1832, Broadway Methodist claims to be Paducah's oldest institution, having built and rebuilt its home across the growing river town for nearly two centuries. Its congregation moved with the city—from Fourth Street to Seventh to its present site—and rebuilt after a devastating 1929 fire. Among its members were Judge William Sutton Bishop, the model for Irvin Cobb's "Old Judge Priest," and Vice President Alben W. Barkley.
